About Run For Your Life
Brian, a member of the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club, gathered together firefighters and members of the community to put on the first Firefighter’s Run 4 Your Life race on March 27, 2010 in Central Park, the “Crown Jewel” of Schenectady, New York. There were 260 runners, 5 relay teams and 40 children participating in the “Kid’s Run.” Along with Schenectady Fire Department, there were six other departments represented. Firefighters from Albany, Troy, Saratoga Springs , Amsterdam, Glens Falls, and Niskayuna took part.
With the help and guidance of attorney Paul Harding of the law firm Martin, Harding and Mazzoti, the first race was a success raising $5000 which was donated to the American Heart Association. New for this year, all proceeds directly benefit the local community via the Schenectady Firefighters Cancer Foundation.
As with road running, the training is on-going. It is our hope that the relationships established with our first race will continue to grow in the running and business communities. We look forward to increasing our participation and fund raising success.
